Discipline and Self-Organization: The Key to Successful Learning

Discipline and Self-Organization: The Key to Successful Learning

"The key is in not spending time, but in investing it." – Stephen R. Covey

We al adore student life since it offers so many opportunities. You can eat anything you want, wake up whenever you want, and time seems to fly by like sand. The problem is that when test season arrives and al you've done is sit around cafes and engage in "important" chats with friends, shame ends up becoming your closest buddy. In these circumstances, our discipline and punctuality come to the rescue! What, therefore, is discipline? It's not about rigid limits or unending constraints. It's the capacity to do tasks that must be completed, not ones that you enjoy (especialy when you simply want to sleep for five more minutes). Studying instead of watching another video on teaching your cat to play the piano is a better way to practice discipline than spending 8 AM to 10 PM in the library.

-How to develop discipline?

1-Make plans like a responsible adult.

Do you recal the saying, "Don't leave for tomorrow what you can do today." when you were a child? Yes, it is true. Plan your day, even if you don't feel like it. Don't overdo it. It's likely that you will simply examine the first item and conclude, "Hey, that's not so bad!" if you write down, "I'll study al topics tomorrow." It's better to start smal but keep going!

2-Switch off everything that diverts your attention.

Yes, I am referring to your phone. You'll forget you were meant to be doing anything as soon as you pick it up, you know. As if you were a superhero who had vanquished al distractions, turn it on "Do Not Disturb" and relish the productivity.

3-Saying "no" to yourself is a skill.

Recognize that you will instantly forget your obligations if your buddies invite you to hang together. Develop your willpower, then! Keep in mind that discipline includes controlling your desires as well as your time. To subsequently say "yes" to your achievement, learn to say "no" when it's appropriate.

4-Don't let mistakes scare you!

Yes, we are al familiar with the feeling of making a mistake or forgetting something crucial. However, perfection is not the goal of discipline. It's al about getting back up, growing from your mistakes, and going on. Everyone who achieves success makes mistakes. The distinction is that they continue to work after learning from them.

5-Discipline is not jail.

The key takeaway is that discipline does not need you to become a mindless automaton that adheres to a rigid routine. It has to do with equilibrium. It's about having enough organization to let loose when necessary. And keep in mind that discipline is a strategy to prevent future stress, not a kind of punishment. You will feel so proud of yourself when you pass that test or complete an assignment on time that you won't want to go back to "later." So go ahead, plan, and achieve your objectives. We have faith in you: you can succeed! Good luck and always remember you can manage your time and handle everything!
